The Edge

My son called this weekend with news that an old friend of the family was in hospice care due to lung cancer.  My thoughts of course went over the various facets of his life that had intertwined with mine.  Although he was my husband’s friend more so than mine, he was there at the beginning of things.  It seems as if the first wave of my generation is falling off.  Perhaps it is the second wave and Viet Nam was the first wave.  At any rate, the risk takers, those who lived on the edge or walked the line are the ones we are losing now.  Not that I haven’t walked my share of lines.

  1. I'm so sorry about your friend. Over the past several years I have had a few people in my life diagnosed with cancer and a handful have departed. I wish your friend the best of luck.
